The ON DANSE workshops and courses allow students to physically explore the universe of the artists workin at the CCN – Ballet de Lorraine. They are open to amateur and serious dancers, 16 years and older.

MICHELE MURRAY is a choreographer and artistic director of the PLAY / Michèle Murray Company. A Franco-American national, she trained first in Düsseldorf in classical ballet , then in New York with Merce Cunningham and at Movement Research, later on with many teachers and choreographers in Paris before collaborating on various choreographic projects as a performer, notably with “l’art not least” in Berlin, Didier Théron in Montpellier and Bernardo Montet at the Centre Chorégraphique National de Tours. Since 2008, she has also been working as choreographic assistant with Didier Théron.
From 2000 onwards, she develops her personal work within the Michèle Murray Company, which becomes Murray / Brosch Productions in 2008, in artistic collaboration with Maya Brosch. She has created numerous works which have toured extensively in Europe .
In 2012, wishing to concentrate on projects dedicated primarily to dance and choreography, she founds PLAY / Michèle Murray, of which she is artistic director and choreographer, while researching in close collaboration with artist coworkers.
She creates the ATLAS / STUDIES, a “choreographic atlas” of ten short pieces for seven dancers, which is presented for the first time as a whole as part of the Festival Montpellier Danse 2018.
In 2020, she choreographs WILDER SHORES, a performance for six dancers with a musical composition by Gerome Nox for the Festival Montpellier Danse 2020.
She is currently working on the project EMPIRE OF FLORA, a dance performance for four dancers and a DJ, which will premiere in 2022.
She is also working on a project dedicated to museum spaces called DUOS – COLLISIONS AND COMBUSTIONS – A CHOREOGRAPHIC COLLECTION OR THE MUSEUM. The first work residency took place at the Brandenburgisches Landesmuseum für Moderne Kunst – DKW Museum Cottbus, Germany, in the frame of the Dance in Residence Brandenburg program in 2021.
Michèle Murray also teaches dance and performance art. Her teaching is closely linked to her choreographic research.

MICHELE MURRAY est chorégraphe et directrice artistique de la structure PLAY / Michèle Murray. De nationalité franco américaine, en même temps qu’à des études de lettres, elle se forme d’abord à Düsseldorf en danse classique, puis à New York auprès de Merce Cunningham et à Movement Research, ensuite en autodidacte auprès de nombreux chorégraphes à Paris avant de collaborer à différents projets chorégraphiques en tant qu’interprète, notamment auprès de «l’art not least» à Berlin, Didier Théron à Montpellier et Bernardo Montet au Centre Chorégraphique National de Tours. A partir de 2000, elle développe un travail personnel au sein de la Cie Michèle Murray, qui deviendra Murray / Brosch Productions en 2008, en collaboration artistique avec Maya Brosch. Elle présente de nombreuses pièces en Europe. (Festival Montpellier Danse, Le Vivat d’Armentières, Live Art Festival Glasgow, Festival Automne en Normandie, ImPuls Tanz Vienne, Zagreb Dance Festival, Dock 11 Berlin, Schrittmacher Festival Aachen, CND Paris, Festival Faits d’Hiver Paris, CCN Tours).
A partir de 2012, revenant vers un travail centré sur le corps et sur la danse, elle crée la structure chorégraphique PLAY / Michèle Murray dont elle est directrice artistique tout en travaillant en étroite collaboration avec les artistes dont elle s’entoure.
Elle crée ATLAS / ETUDES, un «atlas chorégraphique» de dix pièces courtes pour sept interprètes, présenté pour la première fois dans son ensemble dans le cadre du Festival Montpellier Danse 2018. (Voir presse jointe)

Elle prépare actuellement EMPIRE OF FLORA, projet pour quatre interprètes et une DJ pour 2022.
Elle prépare aussi un projet en direction des musées, DUOS - COLLISIONS ET COMBUSTIONS / UNE COLLECTION CHOREGRAPHIQUE, projet pour l’espace muséal, dont une première étape aura lieu au Musée BLMK (DKW) Cottbus en septembre 2021 dans le cadre du programme Dance in Residence Brandenburg, Allemagne.
