ULTRA, the new choreographic project of Nicola Galli is focused on the notion of “stratification” and “landscape” that continues an artistic research on the ancient relationship between human and nature.
ULTRA gazes into the subsoil, into the dark and earthy caves hosting an invisible and silent world: little mammals, arthropods, invertebrates, microorganisms, plants and roots, bacteria and fungi make up an intelligent biodiversity, engaged in the complex process of connection, intellectual exchange and transformation of the world.
Sensory and perceptive, tactile and auditory, electromagnetic, chemical and digestive skills constitute incredible cognitive, linguistic and mutualistic capacities that are the junction point between the biological kingdoms, united in a sophisticated communicative network that allows the activation of symbiotic relationships.
In an attempt to bring to light this functional and hidden order to our perception, ULTRA wants to question the human being and his fundamental linguistic achievements - phonemes, language and graphic symbols - to reflect on our positioning and statement in the world and on a new possible communication system that redefines the concept of intelligence in an inclusive way.
ULTRA experiments the concept of the fall as the twilight of human’s hegemony over the world, pays attention to the fracture between these two subjects to try to "mend" a contemporary chasm and offer a scenic vision of a welcoming planetary garden.
The bodies of the two performers train themselves to become intelligent crossroads and co-inhabitants of a scenic landscape that turns into a cave, crater, slope; they rely on the appearance and intentions of the animal, plant and fungal kingdom, becoming invertebrates, exoskeletons, roots and mycelium. The two bodies are transformed into custodians of this scenic ecosystem, into thinking and sensitive organisms that lose the human perception of a single individual, embracing the interconnection of plants.
In the close relationship between body, sound, voice, light and smell, the dramatic plot aims to propose a window on the hidden world, to train mental flexibility, to perceive a balanced and deep symbiotic organization of reality that includes knowledge, visions, times and languages for a deeper understanding of the world.
The creation will be interpreted by the choreographer with the dancer Massimo Monticelli and will have a scenic format dedicated to the stage or to unconventional indoor spaces.
ULTRA will present a sensorial journey which wants to get the spectators involved in activating a reflection to broaden their range of responsibility and to prepare ourselves for the idea of welcoming, protecting and safeguarding art as a treasure, a vehicle for questions and truths that still remain hidden from our knowledge of the world.

Nicola Galli (1990, Ferrara - IT) works on body research, stated in artistic pieces and devices that ranges from choreography to performance, from body installations to graphics.
In 2010 he starts a personal research focused on shape and definition of the “stratification” and “landscape” concepts in connection with the body, that develops in installations and choreographic pieces. Starting from the geometry and the astronomy he is fascinated by anatomy, proportion and details; these elements compose the core of his trasversal scenic imaginary.
In his works, the body become the irradiate core of the artistic research which focuses on analytical exploration of movement as a part of different knowledges.
From 2010 to 2014 he worked as dancer and performer in the company Collettivo Cinetico directed by Francesca Pennini.
Since 2014 he is choreographer supported by TIR Danza.
